At Maurea, we believe we have now entered the era of contemporary traditional knowledge. For us, that means supporting people and organisations to be both open to and inclusive of Māori cultural practices and knowledge in their decision making processes and operations. This approach will help us to realise our mission to see Māori culture drive Aotearoa forward. But, achieving that mission means helping all New Zealanders to feel like they belong. In the corporate world, this is often referred to as cultural competence, but we see it as more than this.
Cultural competence in a Māori setting, is simply having an understanding of Māori culture. Cultural intelligence (also referred to as cultural safety) on the other hand, blends an understanding of Māori culture with the practice of actually applying it. For Maurea, it’s the combination of understanding and applying Māori culture that drives the work we do. We like to think of this as a Māori culture journey from your head, to your heart and finally to your puku!

Translation
We have a number of translators, including our lead who has been through the rigorous process of becoming Toi Reo Māori Accredited, meaning you can have absolute confidence in the accuracy of our translation services. We can translate either into Te Reo Māori, or from Te Reo Māori.
